Motown - 2018

MOTOWN MUSIC MAGIC

If you could put that in a bottle the problems of the NHS would disappear overnight. The Lions Club would like to thank Lou Taylor for giving us such a marvellous evening of real dancing music and Tracy and her team at the Royal British Legion Old Basing for hosting and supporting it so ably.

In spite of the rival attractions of “Strictly” and “The X Factor” over 80 people, including some of the Old Basing Bowlers, chose to brave the elements and come along to strut their stuff. The dance floor was well used from the outset. As usual it was the girls who led the way, but it wasn’t too long before the male wallflowers were tempted onto the floor by Lou’s seductive voice and their gyrating partners. Such was the enthusiasm that the show overran by about 15 minutes and even when the music stopped the joyful mood continued.

When we were clearing up the fun continued when we found that we had entertained a pseudo health and safety adviser, henceforth to be known as “Josh One Chair”, unawares. Thanks a lot Josh!

To put icing on the cake (and there were several delicious ones of those around too) the evening raised nearly £800 which the Lions Club will use to help local people in need. Check us out via our website www.basingstokelions.org.uk
